Explore Dance Company
We are excited to introduce the fourth season of Explore Dance Company, performance group dedicated to enriching its members dance experience through a variety of local performance, convention, and competition opportunities.
MEMBERSHIP: Membership is by audtition/invitation only. Members are not chosen by skill and technique alone, but by dedication, willingness to learn, and discipline. Invitation into the dance company is not given lightly and is something all students enrolled in Explore Dance classes should strive for. Students are given the opportunity to push their technique, choreography and performance to a higher level. They will learn to adapt and receive constructive feedback from choreographers and teachers.
COST: $40 per month for each dancer. There will be addditional costs for costumes, conferences, and competitions. Fundraising efforts are made in order to offset these costs, however parent’s are responsible for paying what is not covered by fundraising. Participation in conferences and competitions is voluntary.
REHEARSAL: During the summer, we will rehearse on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00pm. Not all dancers need to attend the entire time and a schedule will be sent out the week prior. Additional rehearsals may be scheduled for solos and as we get closer to performances. Rehearsals will be on Friday afternoon from 3:45 to 5:15pm during the fall/spring semester.
CONVENTIONS/COMPETITIONS: We attend two dance conventions each year. During the fall, we attend one convention purely to take dance lessons/workshops, we compete at one convention in the spring. Dates and locations will be announced ASAP. All dancers may choose to compete with a solo. Keep in mind this will accrue additional costs for the dancers. Arrangements must be made with the director to work on solo choreography. Duets, trios, and group dances will be determined by the directors.
VOLUNTEERS: Because of the extra committment, costumes, and dances during our performances, parents of dance company members are expected to volunteer backstage. Attending conventions and competitions is a huge committment and parents learn hair, makeup, and minor costume design!
